Good sexual health is about looking after yourself and others and this includes people who distinguish as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBTQ+). NHS Ayrshire and Arran believe that LGBTQ+ people, like everyone else, should touch comfortable, safe and have access to free confidential inclusive services.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran Sexual health department has also achieved their silver LGBTQ+ Charter award.

What does it mean to be LGBT?

The term lesbian is used to describe women who are sexually and romantically attracted to other women and the word lgbtq+ is often used to illustrate people who are sexually or romantically attracted to people of the same sex or gender. A gay identity can implement to either men or women.

Bisexual is used to describe people who are sexually and romantically attracted to people of either sex or gender.

What does it mean to be transgender?

Transgender is an umbrella term people utilize to describe different gender identities or gender expression that may differ from the sex someone was assigned at birth. This can include transsexual, cross-dresse
