Gay vr

The real world can still be a unwelcoming place for lesbian, gay, bi, transgender and lgbtq+ (LGBTQ) people. So perhaps it is not surprising that LGBTQ people are attracted to social VR and virtual worlds, as a way to link with other gender non-conforming people and make queer spaces. (Please note that, as a proud and out-of-the-closet gay guy, I am reclaiming the formerly pejorative term queer in referring to LGBTQ people.)

Second Life

Second Existence is home to dozens of LGBTQ-friendly places, including the popular Lesbian Teahouse and the five-sim Boystown Gay Group. Every year there&#;s a massive virtual Pride festival. There&#;s even a sprawling, ten-sim ancient Roman roleplay community Romanum for gay and bisexual men! You can also give a visit the Transgender Resource Center and the Transsexual Hate Crime and Suicide Memorial.

Linden Lab maintains a listing of LGBT friendly places in SL, and even a special LGBTQ landing page for visitors:

Before I explain what the heck I mean by "Gay VR", let's review why Gay VR would be necessary. I gave a MVR talk on this topic at A/D/Oa few weeks ago, and someone tweeted my slide aboveand it went mildly viral. A quick explanation:
  • "failsons" (failure + son), coined by famous "dirtbag left" podcast Chapo Trap House, are a particular type of something men who have failed to fit into capitalism for whatever reason -- they don't have promising jobs, or careers, or relationships, or futures -- and they definitely feel the shame of it. When they hit rock bottom prefer this, do they denounce capitalism and start listening to Chapo Trap Home, or do they condemn women + people of color and they connect some Reddit hate mobs?
  • But when they buy video games, the right-wing failson finally fits into capitalism in some small way, and so they stake their self-worth on it. Instead of philosopher-kings, they are consumer-kings, who think they're so good at consuming video games that they can impose their extreme conservative racist misogynist politics on the rest of gamer

The Best Thing About Gay VR Chatrooms

LGBTQ Spaces in Social VR and Virtual Worlds are very real. Still, people do not know that they exist or what we can do about them. If you&#;re in a VR world or chatroom, you can be whatever you desire to be. You can chat to whomever you&#;d like and even engage in behavior that would otherwise be considered risky in the real world. A few virtual worlds in the metaverse are a place for our community to call house. They are safe havens for people who face adversity daily, and everyone is welcome, but the creators designed these rooms for the gay community.

What are these places, and what can we do in them? First, understand that you will demand a VR headset and an open mind for meeting and talking to all kinds of people. Because the metaverse is online, you should treat it similarly to the same precautions you would take in the real world. It&#;s possible you could find yourself in a friendly community in the metaverse or sexual encounters with people connecting through mobile devices too. So, let&#;s get into the safe spaces where you can h

Gay VR is the Ultimate Experience For the Current Queer

Virtual reality has been around for decades, but it hasn&#;t taken off until recently. Now, there are many different types of virtual reality headsets available. Some of them are very expensive, while others are much cheaper. There are even some that you can employ with your smartphone or tablet. Most of these devices allow you to see 3D images, as well as hear sounds while immersing you in a digital world &#; or as Mark Zuckerberg would like you to call it, the Metaverse. You can wear these headsets while playing games, watching movies, or doing homework.

The most popular models of virtual reality headsets so you can access the virtual worlds the metaverse has to offer are:

    • Samsung Gear VR
    • Oculus Rift S
    • Oculus Quest 2
    • HTC Vive

Let’s not confuse Virtual Reality (VR) with Augmented Reality (AR). VR is a desktop environment where you wear goggles and see a 3D world through a screen. AR uses a smartphone or tablet to overlay information in the real world. For example, in AR, if you’re at a concert and want to know who is p
