Gay pride vancouver 2022
Over the course of more than forty years, Vancouver’s Self-acceptance Parade has seen considerable and invigorating evolution. This year’s Pride Parade takes place July 31, with a diverse line-up of Celebration Week events that run from July 21 to August 1.
Vancouver’s Pride Pride initially started as a protest and has since expanded to become an inclusive celebration of the 2SLGBTQAI+ communities. Michelle Fortin, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Pride Culture (VPS), says the first Pride Pride was very much about being seeable and proud. “It was about taking up space. It was about noticing and leaning into the fact that back in same-sex attracted sex had been decriminalized. It was about taking over the streets and being present—saying to the straight majority that we weren’t going anywhere,” she says.

Vancouver same-sex attracted pride is one of the most largest prides in North America and takes place in the sizzling Canadian Summer months of July & August attracting thousands of people from all around the world.
