After spending a VERY intense week celebrating Pride in Berlin, we only had a few days to recover before it was age to do it all over again for Hamburg Homosexual Pride!
Prior to our visit, we knew absolutely nothing about Hamburg, let alone what to hope for from ‘gay Hamburg’. We didn’t understand Hamburg is actually the second largest city in Germany, after Berlin. And we certainly didn’t know it bids one of the biggest and optimal Pride parades, with over 15, participants, plus spectators!

Hamburg’s friendly, unclosed vibe has made the city a favourite destination for LGBTQIA+ visitors. The local scene is most lively in the quarters St. Georg and St. Pauli where you’ll detect plenty of gay-friendly locations. Below we've given you a head start with some of our favourite LGBTQIA+ spots in Hamburg.
St. Georg
Located next to Central Station, St. Georg is an excellent place to originate your Hamburg excursion. The quarter’s centre of the action is Lange Reihe, along which you'll discover loud and proud homosexual bars next to cosy cafés, restaurants and shops flying the rainbow flag. For delectable home-made cakes in a chic interior, call on Café Gnosa. A couple of doors down, you'll find Cafe Uhrlaub, where you can drop in for German-style breakfasts and hot meals any period of day. Order a gin & tonic in a cosy booth at M&V Bar, or travel for cocktails in the dimly-lit setting of Kyti Voo. Along Danziger Straße, you'll find literature, clothing and erotic paraphernalia at Bruno’s and good organization in Bellini Bar.
